Beautifully hand-carved Younger Futhark Horse Chestnut Runes, risted in windfallen wood from the beautiful Scottish borders.

Younger Futhark Runes consist of 16 Runes compared to the Elder Futhark that have 24 Runes per set.  They came in to existence between the 8th and 12th centuries, after the Elder Futhark Runes and just as the Christianisation of Scandinavia came about, whilst Latin began to be used as the written word. The Younger Futhark is believed to be made from using a mixture of Danish long branch and Norwegian/Swedish short branch Runes.

• Material: Horse Chestnut Wood. 16 Runes
• Origin: Scotland. From wind fallen or tree management wood. No wood is ever deliberately cut for the sole purpose of making a set of Younger Futhark Horse Chestnut Runes.
• Size: 2-3cm approx. Due to these runes being made by hand, no 2 sets of Runes will be the same.
