Isle Of Eigg Viking Sword
£270.00
This beautiful Isle Of Eigg Viking Sword is based on an archaeological find from the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. The silver inlaid, bronze hilt was found in 1830 and although only minimal fragments of the blade were ever found alongside, the beautifully detailed hilt can still be viewed on display within the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh.
As no full blade was found to replicate, this single-handed Viking sword has been recreated with a traditional style blade as was typical of those found between the 9c and 10c.
The hilt has been tightly bound with a leather grip which does not detract from the beautifully carved designs replicated from the original find, on the cast bronze guard and pommel with accented details in twisted copper wire.
This sword comes complete with a leather covered wooden scabbard, ornately decorated with a bronze throat, chape and belt loop, suitable for a maximum belt width of 6cm.
NB: This sword is for decorative purposes only and is not suitable for battle re-enactment. Regular oiling of the blade is recommended to avoid rusting.
