Franciscan Axe

This Franciscan axe is a hand-forged throwing axe with a heavy, slightly sharpened carbon-steel blade and ash wood handle.

This style of axe was used by the Francs as well as the Anglo-Saxons and other Germanic tribes during the Merovingian period (500-750AD). Several examples of this axe have been found around England.
