The Rookery Mountain Ash Mead
£25.00
The Rookery Mountain Ash mead is a sulphite-free mead containing only honey, water and freshly picked, rowan berries from around the Rookery itself. Picked in the early autumn, the berries are treated to make them edible, turning them from parascorbic acid into harmless sorbic acid.
The Rowan tree is steeped in mythology and legends from the Highlands of Scotland and beyond. It is known as a protection tree to protect the hearth and home from witchcraft and sourcery.
This mead is a dry mead yet has a gentle, nutty herbal taste.
