Anglo Saxon Wooden Runes: Hazel

Beautifully hand-carved Anglo Saxon Hazel Runes, risted in windfallen wood from the beautiful Scottish borders.

The Anglo Saxon Futhorc consist of 33 Runes which include the 24 Elder Futhark Runes and 9 Frisian Runes.  They were most popular historically between the 5th and 11th centuries until the Christianisation of the majority of the Germanic countries came about – when Latin then began to be used as the written word.

Anglo Saxon Hazel Runes:

• Hazel wood attributes: Protection, divination, magic, Thunor
• Material: Hazel Wood. 33 Runes
• Origin: Scotland. From wind fallen or tree management wood. No wood is ever deliberately cut for the sole purpose of making a set of Runes.
• Size: 2-3cm approx. Due to these runes being made by hand, no 2 sets of Runes will be the same.
