Solid Bronze Thor Figurine

This solid cast bronze Thor figurine was found in Eyrarland farm in Eyjafjörður. Near Akeryri on the northern side of Iceland in the 19th century. It is believed to be from around the year 1000 AD. The original bronze Thor figurine can be found in the National Museum of Iceland, Reykjavik.

Thor, the Norse god of thunder and lightening. When this red headed god strikes his mighty hammer Mjolnir, the spark and its roar can be heard for miles around. Thor is also the god of the working man and protector of all humankind, health and land.
