On the night of December 22nd, Gáttaþefur – Doorway Sniffer, prowls the thresholds of homes, guided by a nose sharp as winter wind. The scents of roasting meats, fresh bread, and sweet Yule treats draw him like a spell, leading him through shadowed hallways and kitchens.

Though his wanderings often stir mischief, his devotion to the aromas of the feast is undeniable and by dawn, all understand the strange, irresistible pull of Yuletide abundance that drives this curious, scent-led spirit.

Before he returns to the mountains, he leaves small gifts in the shoes placed upon windowsills for well-deserving children, a token of his mischievous yet generous nature.
