Jolakotturinn or the Yule Cat is a huge black cat belonging to the Icelandic giantess troll called Grýla. She is the mother of the 13 Yule Lads. The Yule Cat creeps around the Icelandic countryside on Christmas Eve, searching for children who were naughty and didn’t get new clothes for Christmas. It would sneak into their home and then eat them.
