On December 24th,  the final night of Yule, Kertasníkir – Candle Thief, drifts through homes like a flickering shadow. He craves the tallow candles of old. Soft, pale sticks rendered from animal fat, once both a source of light and a secret, savory treat. The warm glow tempts him as much as the hidden morsel within, and he prowls after children, eyes gleaming with mischief and hunger, eager to snatch both illumination and indulgence.

Though his obsession is peculiar, it carries a playful charm. Before vanishing into the snow-laden mountains, he leaves a small gift in the shoes of well-behaved children, a final token of the season’s strange and whimsical magic.
