Mammen Axe

This beautifully engraved Mammen Axe is a replica of an original grave find from Mammen, Denmark. The original axe head which was made of iron with silver inlay can be viewed in the National Museum of Denmark, in Copenhagen.

It is believed to date between from 900-1000c and was unearthed in 1868 when a farmer dug up a mound on his land in the village of Mammen, on Jutland, Denmark and uncovered this tomb, believed to be that of a very wealthy man of high status, with rich grave goods.

This replica axe is made of the highest quality carbon steel on an Ash wood shaft and whilst it may not be inlaid with silver, its still an eye-catcher.
