15th of December Þvörusleikir arrives. Tall and gaunt as a winter shadow, he slips through quiet kitchens in search of his beloved wooden spoons. With quick, spindly fingers he steals them from the hearth and laps away the last traces of broth like a connoisseur of forgotten meals. Strange though his habit may be, there is a peculiar charm to the Spoon-Licker, ever devoted to his curious midnight craft before he seeks the shoes of those worthy of a gift, left on the snow covered windowsills outside.
